Mt. Blue State Park

Spectacular views of Mt. Blue and surrounding mountains ring this lakeside park that boasts a wide variety of year-round activities.  Just 25 minutes from Wilson Lake Inn in the mountainous region of western Maine, Mt. Blue State Park offers visitors an extensive network of trails and winter camping, miles of snowshoe trails, groomed and ungroomed cross-country ski trails, and snowmobile trails, as well as an ice skating rink, sliding hill, and warming hut on Center Hill.

Mount Blue Trail Length:  1.6 miles, Advanced

Blueberry Mountain Trail Length:  1.2 miles one way 


Tumbledown Mountain and Little Jackson

The Tumbledown Mountain and Little Jackson Mountain trail network is composed of six trails and two official trailheads and provides advanced hiking to some of the most unique features in Western Maine. Tumbledown Mountain is not the highest mountain in this area, but with three peaks, 700-foot cliffs and a pond near the summit, Tumbledown stands out among its taller rivals.

Little Jackson Mountain is part of the same range as Tumbledown Mountain, but it is higher in elevation and has a spectacular 360-degree view from the summit. 

Brook Trail:  1.9 miles, Moderate

Parker Ridge Trail: 2.9 miles, Advanced

Loop Trail:1.5 miles, Advanced

Little Jackson Mountain Trail: 3.7 miles, Advanced   

Center Hill

The Center Hill Nature Trail is an easy half mile loop and self-guided nature trail in the heart of Mount Blue State Park. Leaving directly from the picnic area, this trail loops through mature soft-wood, oak, and mixed forest stands before returning back to the parking area. Breathtaking views of the Weld region, including Tumbledown, Blueberry, and Jackson Mountains, Mount Blue, and Weld Lake can be seen from several places along the trail including the picnic area and Center Hill Ledges.

Length: 0.5 mile loop, Easy

Foothills Land Conservancy 

Located on Pond Road in Wilton, within walking distance of Wilson Lake Inn.  The conservancy has a number of wildlife viewing spots in wetlands and water channels, Foothills Land Convervancy is filled with wildflowers and water birds. In the winter, cross country skiers and snowshoers flock to the ungroomed and open trails.

North Jay White Granite Park

Cross a small wooden bridge into the old orchard and follow the interpretive trail. The trail offers a closer look at large quarry pits and the rich history of the Maine & New Hampshire Granite Company.

Length:1.3 miles, network
