There is a lot of deep, cold water in Wilson Lake to support salmon, lake trout, and smelt. The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife lists lake trout, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and hornput as the principal fisheries. Some of the perch, which feed heavily on smelt, reach jumbo proportions.
